How to Get Leads From Your Website

The average blogger may not be concerned with generating leads, but a business owner is interested in nothing less. Unfortunately, too many business owners trust their website’s development to companies that specialize only in getting traffic to the site. Traffic is nice and it’s always good to know that your website is being seen, but how does it translate into dollars and cents? In many cases, it doesn’t.  To move past the competition, corner the market, and produce sales, business owners need quality leads, and a lot of them.

Get the Right Types of People

Getting traffic is easy. There are a million SEO companies that can deliver traffic to your site. The problem is that the traffic isn’t targeted. You wouldn’t run an ad for a Playstation game during a show geared towards older women, even if it was the most popular show in its time slot. The same goes for website traffic. In order to get your pitch in front of the right kind of traffic, you need to make use of social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), SEO, and effective Pay Per Click advertising.

Write Engaging Content to Get Website Leads

All too often, SEO gurus focus on writing for the search engines and forget that actual people have to read their tripe. Not only is Google now penalizing low quality content, but it will never generate the types of leads you need to make sales. By incorporating interesting photos and great writing in a seamless fashion, you provide the user with value before they’ve even considered opening their wallet. Effective website design can engage readers, earn their trust, and make it much more likely that they will turn into customers.

Clear Calls-to-Action

The average page visit is over in under a minute. Many last only 10-20 seconds. You don’t have time to get around to the point. While you can’t afford to jump right into your page-long sales pitch with a new user, you have to sprinkle your landing page with clear calls to action. Don’t leave ambiguity in your writing. Let the user know what it is that you want them to do, whether you want them to leave their email address, sign up for a subscription, or simply bookmark your site.

To Get Website Leads, Communication Should Be Easy

Chances are, you don’t have time to dedicate your entire work day to managing website leads. You need simple, effective, automatic solutions that guide the user through the tunnel. This can mean using virtual sales assistants to reduce your involvement in the nuts and bolts, putting a simple contact form on your site to make it easier for potential customers to get in touch, and setting up your website for laser-targeted traffic.

It’s so important for business owners to expect actual leads from their website. Traffic is good, but what good is traffic if nothing comes of it?
